Shuswap's Mildred was our first calf of 2024, and was a bottle calf. Mildred has a calm, tolerant temperament. Having been a bottle calf, she is very used to handler interaction, slightly less respectful of personal space as a result, and often will seek human affection when it's available. She has been successfully trained to portable electric fencing and moves well through handling systems and chutes.

Her dam, Haze of Tatlayoko, is a dun cow with a fantastic udder and naturally timid temperament that has been increasingly calm as we have built trust with her. She calved Mildred unassisted and initially showed great mothering instincts. But, being impressionable by the herd, Haze was soon pushed away from Mildred by a problematic heifer who has since been removed from our breeding group. As a result, Mildred was never able to form a bond with her dam, and she became a bottle calf. Her dam, Haze, has now gone on to sucessfully calf again in 2025 without any issue, and has become a proven cow with great calving and mothering instincts.

Shuswap's Mildred has been tattooed and registered, CCIA tagged, and has been vaccinated with TASVAX 8. She is ready for new pastures.
